Security Systems – What Types of Cameras can be used for CCTV surveillance system?

Many people don’t install Security Systems until they get robbed or some similar incident happens. Maybe you yourself have been into the same situation. I’m not here to judge you; I want to tell you something more about CCTV, because CCTV became a part of the alarms systems. CCTV stands for Closed Circuit Television and it presents a security monitoring that became very popular surveillance system in this decade.

The CCTV alarm systems are consisting of different types of cameras and they are connected in a close circuit via cable or via wireless connection and also they need a power supply of 12 V. Their output can be: composite video output connected to standard TV via SCART or standard Audio/Video input, spot or call output which can be used for monitoring in full screen by request or call, VGA output which can be connected on any PC that support VGA input.

What kind of camera you’ll have to use depends on a few factors, such as the place where the camera will be placed, the quality of the recordings, the visibility of the camera itself and ext. There are a lot of different brands and types of cameras, but I don’t want to discuss about the brands. Let me describe the types of cameras that are mostly used for every CCTV security alarm.

• One type is Night/Day Camera. This type of camera is recording in color when its day and when it gets dark, the night mode recording activates in near infrared using IR light to produce high quality black and white image. These cameras are used for outdoor usage and can be used for indoor places with weak lightning.
• The other type is the Night Vision Camera, which is similar to Night/Day Camera. It is recording in color by day, by night the night vision mode is getting activated, but the difference is that Night Vision cameras can record even in darker places than Night/Day Cameras, they can produce clear image even in pure darkness.
• Next type is so called Covert or Hidden Camera because they are being installed in places where you want the camera to be hidden or to look like something else. They can be put within radios, speakers, clocks phones, fire alarms for smoke so your employees don’t know that they are being observed or can be really miniature that no-one can notice their existence.
• There are cameras for exterior usage, also known as Outdoor Cameras. These cameras are waterproof and their name speaks for their appliance in the Security Systems.
• Also I have to mention the Speed Dome Cameras; they can be found as PLZ cameras. Their alternative name came from their Pan, Tilt and Zoom options, and there are major differences between these and other types of cameras.

These are the cameras that are most used for CCTV surveillance systems. I hope that you choose the appropriate cameras for your Alarm System because only appropriate Security Systems can bring you a peace of mind.
