Why can’t I download pictures from my digital camera to my LAPTOP? HELP!?

My anti-virus protection keeps on saying my memory card disk is infected. When I go into My Computer folder, I don’t see anything there. It’s starting to get me mad, because I need to download some pictures for a school assignment. My anti-virus or perhaps my laptop won’t let me open anything from my memory cards. Does anyone know what I need to do? Thanks.

I have Norton Internet Security, and I have a Sony Vaio laptop.
