Network Ethernet Camera

If my computer has Integrated 10/100 Ethernet can I connect to a wireless network camera?
I don’t have a linksys or any type of wireless network system, but since I bought my computer in 2008 I thought maybe new computers come standard with the capability to connect to wireless networks. What do I need to look for before I buy a wireless network camera?
Sorry obviously I don’t know all the technical terms. So it seems what I have on my desktop (not laptop, I should have specified) is for a wired internet connection only, and I’ll need to purchase a wireless network adapter to connect to anything wireless? $50 doesn’t seem that bad. I appreciate everyone’s help.
An Ethernet network interface card allows you to connect to a physical wired network. It does not have wireless capabilities. In order to make use of a wireless device, you will need to install a wireless network adapter. If the idea of opening up your computer and physically installing a new device gives you the heebie-jeebies, you can also purchase a wireless adapter that plugs into a USB port. Such things usually run about $50.
