What kind of high speed internet options are there and which is best for your money?
I don’t know very much about internet service. I will be moving soon and I need to find an internet company. A reliable high speed internet company. But I am not sure what the difference in the types and the companies are. Which is best and which do you get the most bang for your buck?
Fiber optic is no doubt the fastest, most reliable, and best bang for your buck…
Usually Verizon FiOS would be your provider for fiber optic, but there may be other options available… I currently have 15mbps download and 2mbps upload, and I pay $45/month for that… it never goes down either… it is not thru Verizon, its thru a local company around here…
Cable is usually around $50-$60 a month but it is widely available… it had a standard speed rate of 6mbps download 0.38mbps upload speeds, these usually require long term contracts as well… Comcast would most likely be your provider, but every cable company offers high speed…
DSL is over the phone line, it can be affordable, or not…. may have a contract, may not, it is available widely in a phone company’s territory… I used to have 3mbps by 1mbps for $35 a month from the same company, but switched to fiber optic for $10 more a month and 5x the speed pretty much…
If you cannot get any of those, get satelite, it is strangely expensive and extremely unreliable, and inconsistent with speeds… You only get satelite if you NEED a high speed internet connection, but nothing else is available to you because you live in too rural of an area. I believe this service is around $80 a month or higher for like a less than 1mbps connection, and the installation is around $500… but things may have changed… i checked on it before and it was just not even a consideration…
But in summary, you should call your phone company, cable company, and satelite provider to see what the deal is…
