Moving a surveillance camera?
I moved a cctv dome camera from one room to another and now I cant get it to work. All I did is unhooked the wires and reconnected them. Now it won’t show up on the monitor but the other seven do. What did I do wrong? It is a three wire hook-up (Red, Black, and Video). There is no power to the red and black ones, as checked with a multimeter. It is all ran through a Speco DVR. Is there something I need to do in the dvr to get the camera to work?
The red and black are the power supply to the camera and not RCA. I also checked the connection at both ends and no power at either end. I think that it may be a software issue within the DVR. I just don’t know how to resolve it.
It sounds more like you let the red and black wire touch each other or otherwise short out. Look for a fuse that protects those particular wires. A fuse may be mounted near the wires where they connect to the equipment but it may also be internal.
