how to connect 8 vicon camera dome and have the ability to move them?
Which Vicon camera dome system?
They make different cameras with different network connections and capabilities. Not all dome cameras have Pan/Tilt/Zoom capabilities.
If they are analog PTZ cameras, then you will need to run enough appropriate cabling to each camera to carry power, video and pan/tilt/zoom control. It is best if all the cabling comes back to a single place. The video cables will connect to a multichannel Digital video recorder; the power will connect to a correctly sized power supply and the PTZ contral cables will connect to a PTZ console.
If they are IP based PTZ cameras, then you will need to run data cabling (CAT5) to each camera and most likely separate power to each camera. The data cable just becomes part of the local area network. Typically each camera is assigned its own IP address and is just another node. You get to the camera using a browser – and the PTZ controls generally are a Java application that comes with the camera.
